Central Sparks are delighted to announce that Katie George has signed a contract extension with the team, keeping her at Sparks for at least one more year.
With the winter programme beginning, and following a strong summer earlier this year, George has signed a one-year contract extension to stay with the Central Sparks until at least the end of 2024.
All-rounder George will remain with the Sparks after the 2023 campaign, to build on a great season just gone. Central Sparks’ number 99 has impressed since joining from the Western Storm and the pace bowler will look to pick up from where she left off taking wickets and scoring runs in 2024.
On her extension, George said: “I am really happy to have signed a contract extension with the Sparks.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first year with the girls and I am excited to kick on.”
Director of cricket Laura MacLeod added: “I am looking forward to seeing Katie go again for the Sparks next season.
“With a strong winter, she will kick on and be an even stronger three-dimensional player in 2024.”
24-year old George boasted an impressive season, not just with the Sparks, but in The Hundred where she played for the Manchester Originals. Being one of the four lead seam bowlers in Lloyd Tennant’s seam attack, George took on a heap of responsibility in the summer with ball in hand.
As well as taking some captivating wickets, the all-rounder also scored crucial runs during the season, which included two half-centuries which came against the South East Stars and The Blaze, both in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
George said: “This winter will be a big one and I am looking forward to getting ready for a big summer next year in 2024.”
