Central Sparks

After a week two win against the Nothern Diamonds, followed by a third game defeat to the Southern Vipers, the Central Sparks come into this game in mixed form. It was a close loss, by three wickets when they faced the Vipers last Monday, however a damaging one as it came less than 48 hours after their first victory of the season.

A win against the Thunder would be a welcome distraction for them, putting them back in the winner’s circle.

The Sparks will be lifted by the introduction of Erin Burns to the side, the overseas international comes with a wealth of experience and Head coach Lloyd Tennant has thrown her straight in and the Australian is in contention to make her debut at Old Trafford.

Sitting 6th in the RHFT group after 3 games is a good place to be, with plenty of time to make up ground on the teams above them. A second win, meaning Lloyd Tennant’s can move into the play-off spots as they head to Manchester to face the Thunder this weekend.

Thunder Cricket

Thunder, a side who sit bottom of the group from three games, haven’t had it easy so far in the RHFT campaign. Their most recent fixture, while the Sparks were beaten by the Vipers, was rained off against the Blaze. So, the northern side will be raring to go on Saturday.

Thunder has some good players in their ranks, the likes of England’s Emma Lamb and overseas player Dottin. They will be wanting to get off the mark and get their first win of the 50 overs season this weekend.

Player to watch

With Thunder having some good players in their squad, with the impact experience has on some teams, Emma Lamb is a player to watch. Having the experience of batting in the England set-up, she will play a key role for Thunder, as they look to get off the board this campaign.

Lamb has posted many runs over the years, and coming in at three, she will be looking to post more at Wormsley and trouble the Sparks bowlers.

Head-to-head

In the last four fixtures between the two sides, both teams have picked up two wins each.
