Since 2020 when Sparks first formed, Worcestershire have been on board and New Road quickly became a second home for the West Midlands team. Years later, and Sparks make their last appearance at New Road.
Over the years New Road has hosted some fantastic fixtures for not just Sparks, but county, white ball and internationals too. One of the most memorable Women's domestic matches in Worcester has to be the 115-run defeat of the South East Stars in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, which earned Sparks a place in the 50 over play-offs in 2021.
In more recent times, a game against this week's opponents, Southern Vipers, was an exciting bout held at New Road. A match in which Sparks continued their run to Charlotte Edwards Cup Finals Day with a win by five wickets, bowling the Vipers out for just 98 that day.
Sparks Director of Cricket Laura MacLeod said: "We've played a lot of our home games at New Road over the years we've been Sparks and have achieved some important wins.
"It's great for the players to have played so many games at one of the most picturesque grounds in the country."
One thing Worcestershire is great for is it's local community and the support their men's county team sees on a regular basis, that, something MacLeod says is good for the Women's game.
"Building up a consistent crowd of attendees that have watched us in the past, and now watch international Women's games at New Road is great to see.
"We'd like to thank Worcestershire and New Road for being part of the Sparks journey and we wish you well in the new domestic structure that commences from 2025."
Sparks' final match at Visit Worcestershire New Road comes this Friday, where they'll take on semi-final chasing Southern Vipers in a 10:30am start. Tickets can be found here!
