Central Sparks duo Amy Jones and Issy Wong have been selected in England’s squad for their Metro Bank LV= Insurance Test against Australia.

England Women’s Test squad are set to play Australia in an Ashes test at Trent Bridge, in a multi-format which will also consist of Test match (worth four points), three ODIs and three Vitality IT20s (each worth two points).

This morning, England announced their 15-player-squad for the Ashes test at Trent Bridge, which includes the Sparks pair.

Amy Jones has been in and around the England setup since 2013, having made her ODI debut in that year against Sri Lanka, receiving cap number 121. That then followed with appearances in 2019 and 2023. 2019 was the year Jones made her test debut, in a fixture against Australia.

The batter & wicket-keeper joins up with England after playing a handful of games for Lloyd Tennant’s side in 2023, where she scored 207 runs over six games.

As for Issy Wong, the 21-year-old gains her second call up in as many years having made her England debut in 2022. Wong made her test debut against South Africa in June last year, which was followed with an appearance in a ODI game against the same nation a month later.

She then also made her T20 international debut against South Africa, then she played in a game with the West Indies in 2022 also.

The Sparks pace bowler joins up with England having taken a host of wickets in 2023 for the Sparks, she will hope to make an impact for her country later this summer.
