CENTRAL SPARKS V SOUTH EAST STARS: REPORT

The South East Stars elected to bowl first after winning the toss, leaving the Central Sparks to bat which saw captain Eve Jones just one run shy of 50 scoring 49 from 44 balls. Sparks’ first wicket was dropped after a catch by Phoebe Franklin had Marie Kelly out with two from five balls. The top scoring partnership of the innings went to Jones and Emily Arlott which saw them hit 29 runs between them. Good performances came from Steph Butler (15) and Milly Home (14) who both were out LBW.

The Stars came to the crease needing 118 runs to win which saw an early catch by Arlott off the bowling of 19-year-old Issy Wong when the Stars were on 16 after two overs. More wickets were to come for Sparks after Georgia Davis’ double wicket over, leaving the Stars on 33/3. Then came on Steph Butler who’s first ball had Franklin with a catch by 17-year-old Hannah Baker.

Unfortunately, it just was not enough for the Sparks as the Stars won by 5 wickets, knocking off Central Sparks’ 117 runs scoring 118/5 with 4 overs to spare.
